Reviews
What are customers say.
“Full re-roof on our 1930s house. The team were tidy, on time, and explained everything as they went. The finished job looks fantastic.”
“Honest quote, honest work. Got three quotes for our flat roof replacement; they weren't the cheapest but were clearly the most thorough. Glad we went with them.”
Questions
Roofing in Jersey, answered honestly.
- How much does a new roof cost in Jersey?
- There is no single figure. Price depends on roof size and pitch, scaffolding and access, the material you choose, the condition of the timbers once the old covering is stripped, and freight to the island. We survey the roof, then give a free written quote with the work itemised.
- How long does a full re-roof take?
- Most domestic re-roofs in Jersey take one to three weeks on site once scaffolding is up. A small lean-to or garage can be a couple of days. Weather, roof size, chimney and leadwork detailing, and any timber repairs found on strip are what move the timeline.
- Are you fully insured?
- Yes. Watertight Ltd is fully insured for all roofing work carried out in Jersey, and we can provide our certificate before work starts. Scaffolding is supplied by insured local firms, and every job is set up to work safely at height.
- Do I need planning permission to replace a roof in Jersey?
- Like for like re-roofing usually does not need permission, but listed and registered buildings, conservation areas, and any change of material, pitch or added dormers and rooflights normally do. We flag this at survey stage and work to whatever the Planning department requires.
- How quickly can you come out after storm damage?
- We aim to inspect storm damage within the same week and make roofs safe and watertight first, with a permanent repair booked after. Call 07797 773536 as early as you can after a gale, because slipped slates and lifted ridges get busy quickly across the island.
- What is BS 5534 and why does it matter?
- BS 5534 is the British Standard for slating and tiling. It sets how roofs must be fixed for wind uplift, including mechanically fixed ridges and hips rather than mortar alone. In Jersey's exposed Atlantic gales that fixing specification is the difference between a roof staying put and losing tiles.
- Do you offer a guarantee on your work?
- Yes. Workmanship is guaranteed, and manufacturer warranties apply to materials such as single-ply membranes and GRP systems. The exact terms are confirmed in writing with your quote, so you know what is covered before you commit to anything.
